Framing almost complete, kitchen coming together

I’ve managed to solve most of the exterior issues pertaining to rain, including water pooling on the roof / deck area and some minor leakage on the front of the house. This was mostly done by things that were planned anyway. I used self leveling concrete floor product on the roof which worked well to fill in the low spots. After a recent rain, water is shedding off the side instead of sitting at the container seams. I also finished the hardest end wall to sheath and side. There is still some trim to be installed and holes to fill, it it’s sealed up. The rest of them will be easier.

I’ve been working on the kitchen cabinets too. It was a little bit of a challenge to get cabinets I already had coordinated with new ones, plus fit the appliances. Working as a solo operator, the microwave proves to be a big undertaking to get mounted. But I got it done, it’s secure, and the rest is just details. I had cut plenty of tile before, but never as big a slab as what I used for the backsplash. This was a recovered piece that had been removed from another project. It survived the removal, moving, storage, and even the container disaster, but my little saw was not up to the challenge. I did crack it while cutting the length. I think I can seal and sand the crack because it isn’t very visible. You might not even see it in the photos. Since the cabinet fronts I had were not made anymore, I coordinated the new ones with the GE Cafe Convection Oven / Microwave and made both backsplashes coordinate with the cabinets. It turned out well, as far as I’m concerned.

I also finished the framing and insulation at the entry room wall and got the wood slats on the ceiling to hide the container roof damage. I’ll probably stain them to be cohesive, but I’m happy with the results.

I thought I posted about the framing progress, but I guess I was waiting until I finished. Either way, it’s close enough. All but one wall is up. I ran out of studs and needed more, so I worked on other things.

And I did finish the entry door. I was lacking some trim and caulk to really seal it up. I added an extra layer of insulation on the inside since I had extra and it does get some direct sun. That also gives me extra room to run wiring for the exterior sconces. I should have those lit soon.

It’s getting closer. I’m anticipating an issue with the septic contractor based on recent contact, but I’ll let that play out. I can get the plumbing done in short order but that won’t matter if I don’t have a septic system installed. I’ll update again soon.
