I have been getting electrical set up in phases for quite a few months, starting with the HVAC and moving on from there. There is one decorative fixture that I added, which still needs wiring to it, but otherwise all of the electrical is completed and tested now. I used almost all 12ga wire, with the exception of a handful of low wattage light fixtures. It is almost all armored cable so that it can go under the house or be left exposed. So all in all, the house is really overwired – more like a commercial building. The armored cable will be left exposed in some places, along with surface mount metal J boxes, to give it a light industrial feel that will come together more after paint.
I left the indoor / outdoor room for last since it is partitioned off with the roll up door and I am using it for storage at the moment. But I should be able to get that all done easily enough once that room is cleared out of the construction material and tools. The smart breakers still need to be set up, but can manually control the loads for testing purposes. They will allow various lights to be controlled and certain loads to be turned off through the control system when the house is not being used. I have spaces left on those for the remaining outdoor and indoor / outdoor room lighting loads once I get to those. But for now everything that is supposed to be functional on the electrical side is working and controlled.

The decorative and architectural lighting is a mix of various brands and products. I tried to use items that are multi purpose so that I did not have to make too many attachments on the exposed container ceilings. I used standard metal boxes mounted there and used products that could be attached to those for the mounting of any ceiling lights.

In many of the areas, the lighting was installed on the wall or in a drop down created for another purpose. For those, the installation was standard. The repurposed slat ceiling in the entry was used to cover the mangled container ceiling from the mishap. The first floor bedroom pendants were installed in the dropdown over the bed which was created for the plumbing. I repurposed a high end decorative fixture in the hall between the kitchen and downstairs bedroom. It was damaged in a remodel but functionally, it works fine. I plan on making a cover for it. The upstairs bedroom sconces came from an ocean faring ship, but don’t know the history other than that.

The thermostats have been working for a while. I may not have posted about them. They are smart and will have control and schedules programmed as soon as I complete their setup. They also have remote temp sensors that I will probably just keep local to them since they are relatively well placed.

Since I designed and installed the electrical myself, there are a few well placed items for specific purposes. The floor outlet was relatively straightforward but was easier since there is access underneath the house. I am using Legrand adorne outlets throughout, but there is one behind a cabinet on the TV wall that didn’t need to be specialty since it won’t be visible.

Really nice work! This has been a great project to watch unfold.
